How does your garden grow?

Mary, Mary, quite contrary how does your garden grow. This is one of my favourite nursery rhymes. I am not sure why, but thinking about it now, rhyming Mary and contrary has its charm.

I don’t have silver bells or cockle shells, or even pretty maids all in a row but the garden does grow. After a very short, but successful, Spring, it got damn hot with temperatures close to 40 in late September. Way early for this heat. It was dry too and I got despondent. Then we had a great week of rain and the summer storms arrived. The grass is green!

In two months, the grape has grown from this to this (despite being dug up by a brush turkey TWICE).

My friend Adrian and Wayne built spent a Sunday morning building me a trellis for the bird poo passionfruit. It looks like an outdoor bathroom!

I am getting joy from my may bush which always amuses me by flowering in not-May but of course it is a northern hemisphere plant where spring is May.
