Sporadic Gardening

The glossy gardening magazines can be disheartening – real-life gardening is different to the gardening shows. A good gardener should plan and research and have a schedule. I am not a good gardener. I am a sporadic gardener. I plant things at the wrong time and in the wrong place and sometimes things just don’t grow for no reason.

It all started with my grandmother. I told her when she died I was going to take over her garden and enter it in the Toowoomba Carnival of Flowers. I know, not the sort of thing one should say to an elderly lady. As disturbing, is my belief that I could create a garden worthy of entering in a Carnival competition. Hilarious.

Through trial and error and some good luck, I do have some successes. I will photograph them and coo and brag. Never mind the rubbish mistakes. I hope some of my experiments help you with your garden.

My garden is subtropical – maybe, or perhaps it is in the hot zone.

I do not garden to the traditional four seasons.  The real Australian seasonal patterns are a little different.
